Origin Of Coffee

Coffee is one of the most popular beverages in the world, and it has a fascinating history. It all began in Ethiopia, where coffee was discovered by an Ethiopian goatherd named Kaldi.

The story goes that Kaldi noticed his goats were particularly energetic after eating some red berries from a nearby bush. He decided to try them himself and found that he too felt more alert and energized after consuming them. After sharing this discovery with local monks, they boiled the berries into a drink that became known as “qahwa” – or “coffee” as we know it today!

From Ethiopia, coffee spread throughout Arabia before eventually making its way to Europe during the 16th century. By the 17th century, coffee had become so popular that it was being sold on street corners across Europe and even served at royal courts!

Today, Ethiopia remains one of the top producers of coffee beans in Africa – producing over 7 million bags per year for export around the world. Coffee continues to be an important part of Ethiopian culture; many Ethiopians start their day with a cup of freshly brewed qahwa (Buna) coffee made from locally grown beans.
